All the figures are unique and handmade by Sibylle Kaldewey. The basic material is cardboard, covered with a variety of deluxe papers, carefully chosen fabrics and extremely fine cotton wool.
The figures are delicately trimmed with ribbons, lace and tassels, and are enhanced by traditional products such as Lyonese wire, beads (including Gablonz glass beads), rhinestones, buttons, feathers and artificial flowers. In some cases, old-fashioned scrap reliefs are used to depict the head or figure.

Ballets Russes Paper figures
Dancers, figurines based on the legendary Paris productions, present themselves for new performances. Vintage material from the 1920s combines with experimental fabrics and paper from the 21st century.

Miniature couture Paper figures
Figures in fantasy or thematic costumes present scenes from the Renaissance (Mantua); they depict strolling characters, hunters, princes and princesses or simply allude to the four seasons.

Japan-Swiss Paper figures
Unicoloured and patterned Japanese paper (Washi) are combined with St Gallen lace for a very special effect. Patterns mingle; superimposed colours and shapes conjure up a dialogue between Japan and the West.

Simply paper Paper figures
Antique and new coloured paper, metallic paper (embossed, or with a matt or glossy finish), and Japanese paper (Chiyogami, Yuzen) unite with quotations (from William Morris) in fabric and paper patterns about the world of art and fashion.

Cotton-wool figures Christmas tree decorations
Angels with gold and silver wings, Saint Nicholas and Santa Claus, snow princes and winter children all afloat on very fine, white cotton wool. Kittens and tom cats enact charming scenes.

Cotton-wool figures Cats on skates
There they go, speeding along on silver skates: the Christmas cat, the Alpine-rose hunter or King Ludwig's cat. White cotton wool is combined with deluxe paper, fabrics, fur and unusual miniature accessories.
